Identity Design

Your Brand is your Businesses Identity. It is how others see your Business and everything you communicate to others. Building your Business Identity or Brand takes time and money. It takes time for a Designer to create your Logo and Stationery as it takes time for a web Designer to create your Website and in Business everything that takes time costs money.

How much does a UK Business Identity Cost?

Having an Identity created for your Company should not leave your Business struggling to survive but you should be realistic about the time and cost involved in creating a Professional Identity. You also do not have to have lots of items displaying your Logo to have a strong Brand. A Professional Logo and a well Designed set of Stationery is enough to give you the basis for your Identity. You should expect to pay a Logo Designer between £280-£600 for the design of a Professional Logo and set of Stationery. You will be charged more if you have lots of face to face consultations as well. The additional costs on top of this will be your Stationery printing which varies in price depending on printing methods, papers, professionalism and quantity. An average price would be around £250 for the printing of 1000 Letterheads, 1000 Compliment Slips and 500 Business Cards. If you looked around you could expect to cut this figure in half but you will likely get a lesser quality print finish due to cheaper papers and printing methods. So to sum up for the cost of £530-£850 you could have a Professional Logo Design and a Professional set of Business Stationery Designed and printed. The logo and stationery would give you enough for the basis of your Brand / Identity but the next phase would probably be a Website. The cost of a website varies hugely depending on requirements and professionalism but you could expect to get a basic professional Website of about 5 pages from £280. Some people spend over £1000 on a website but for most Businesses that do not require dynamic technical sites this would not be necessary. If however you plan to make most of your money over the internet then you perhaps should consider upping your budget for web design plus you will need some Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) if you wish to compete in the search engine listings with your competitors. Once your website is done you can then move on to promotional material such as Brochures, Leaflets, printing on uniforms, sign graphics, vehicle graphics, etc. The most important point is though that you do not leave your Business in a financial mess because you invested too much too soon on your Brand. A Brand should be created step by step as and when you can afford to invest more. If you include your Brand / Marketing budget in to your Business plan this will help to give a realistic idea of what you can afford to spend on your Brand. Remember also that your Brand should be an investment so you should not spend more than you can realistically make back from your investment in a relatively short time. The key is to move one step at a time.
